With the recent expansion of Montreal’s food truck scene including new official sites, added tucks and extended hours, there’s really no excuse to cop some delicious grab from your favourite food truck. Montreal’s official food truck roster includes over 40 different trucks all serving unique menu items by some of the city’s most creative chefs. Unless you’re following most of these mobile food pushers, chances are if you’re not on top of your food truck Twitter game, you’ll miss some of these awesome gourmet dishes prepared and served out of these amazing food-mobiles… until now!

mainI was recently contacted about the new YP.ca app available for iOS and Android phones. The revamped app offers users a host of useful features (if your geo-location is turned on) such as locating the closest gas station including current prices (!), shopping centres and most importantly, an in depth, comprehensive guide to food truck street fleet.

Winneburger
I was outside of the downtown core (where most of the food truck locations are located) but knew that some of the new food trucks this year are venturing outside the immediate downtown area. Luckily for me I found one of my favourite trucks relatively close by – Winneburger of Le Nouveau Palais – who serve one of the best burgers in the entire city, stationary or mobile.

schedule
Not only does the YP app help you locate where a particular truck is, but it also displays the opening hours and the upcoming locations and schedule for the rest of the week – a great feature if you know what part of the city you’ll be in ahead of time.

MapThe app was really straight forward and simple to use. The map displays which trucks are open indicated by the colour of the location marker. The YP ap provides all the pertinent social media links to your favourite truck to keep updated on daily specials.

braceyourself
The Montreal food truck pilot project has grown exponentially in the past two years, from the addition of new trucks and locations, its progress and prosperity is not only dependent on the public for support but great apps like this to help get the word out!
