Some of the world’s most awesomest things often have something dedicated or erected in their honour (heh, heh, y’know what I’m sayin’?); example: Kwanzaa, Boxing day, Sharks and most recently BURGERS. Off the heels of this past summer’s wildly successful Montreal’s “Burger Week”, the evil geniuses behind that endeavour are coming out with the hottest thing to hit February since the vomit-inducing temperature that generates in your down-filled winter coat as it creates some greenhouse effect while you sweat your ass off in a crowded metro car… Montreal’s first and inaugural Poutine Week!

poutine week - poutineville - le montrealais
Poutineville – Le Montrealais – Montreal smoked meat, mushrooms, swiss cheese and topped with a fried pickle.

Concept is simple, 30 restaurants around the city are offering up their own poutine creations at preferred prices in the name of friendly competition to bid for the crown of Montreal’s “best poutine”. Peppered with special events throughout the week: celebrity poutine parties; including some of your favourite local sports personalities and OLYMPIANS and a “calorie burning” fitness event. The public is encouraged to get out there and let your voice – and hungry stomach grumbles – be heard and vote for your favourite participating restaurant’s poutine!

In conjunction with Poutine Week, Shut Up and Eat is doing a SUPER OFFICIAL giveaway contest over on the “contest/giveaways” page. Free poutines and swag are being thrown in every direction! Make sure to go register to win! BIG BIG BIG!

This is very real. I have no idea why they’re not participating… but I would take this as a great opportunity to see what other poutine masterpieces exist in the city.

Man, we had Tazah’s poutine which was tasty but the real shock was the 17$ bill. For a poutine?? Seriously? They are simply taking advantage and the fact that they did not show us menus made it feel like a scam. We won’t go back based on their attitude.
